To complement our fantastic Eufy Robovac 11 we also bought ourselves a Black and Decker Dustbuster cordless vacuum cleaner to deal with the stairs in our home as well as to reach the spots which Eufy can’t get to.
Quite a lot of time was spent looking for a good cordless vacuum. We initially bought the Vax Gator but as it turned out, that was not nearly as powerful as we had hoped.
The Vax Gator gave us a hands-on experience of the types of batteries to avoid; that is, to steer clear of appliances with Ni-Cad batteries as they gradually lose power during ‘running time’ rather than giving full power and performance until the end. On the contrary, Li-Ion batteries do just this. We ended up returning the Vax, which is not something we do lightly, and bought the Black and Decker.
The Dustbuster Pivot comes packing a punch with an 18V Lithium-Ion battery which powers a 980W motor capable of sucking at a whopping rate of 1,170 Litres per minute which is equivalent to 35 Air Watts. In comparison, most corded vacuum cleaners have a 1000W – 1200W motor. You know a cordless vacuum is powerful when the air it starts throwing out gets warm – and this does just that.
The dustbowl has a capacity of 440ml which we’ve found is enough for a few charge cycle worth of cleaning. It’s advised to empty the dustbowl after every cycle and it’s actually very easy to do so as it hinges open and all the gathered dust can be poured out.
Another feature which distinguishes the Dustbuster from most other portable vacuums on the market is that the nozzle, apart from extending by 8cm (3.25″), also pivots up to 200°. This allows you to reach certain places comfortably which you normally wouldn’t be able to.
This vacuum also comes with it’s own charging base which can be either placed on the floor / table or else hung from the wall at a comfortable height. It fits snugly and securely and an LED light indicates whether it’s in the process charging or if it’s ready.
We’ve used this appliance for a number of months now and cannot imagine doing our weekly chores without it. Our old corded vacuum went into storage and hasn’t seen the light of day since.
